I Thought Showering More Was Always Better — Then I Learned The Truth

For years, I believed showering multiple times a day meant I was doing everything right. Morning shower, evening shower, sometimes even another one after going outside for only a short time. It became such a normal routine that I never questioned it. I thought the more often I showered, the cleaner and healthier I would be.

One evening, during a random conversation, someone asked me a simple question that completely caught me off guard: “What if showering too much is actually bad for you?” I laughed at first because it sounded ridiculous. How could something associated with cleanliness possibly become a problem? But the question stayed stuck in my head long after the conversation ended.

The more I thought about it, the more curious I became. Suddenly I started paying attention to things I had ignored for years — dry skin, irritation, and how tired my skin sometimes felt after long hot showers. I realized I had followed the same routine my entire life without ever stopping to wonder whether it was actually necessary.

What shocked me most was discovering how differently people approach something as basic as showering. Some people shower constantly, while others do it far less often and still feel completely fine. Everyone seemed convinced their own routine was the correct one. The realization made me understand how many everyday habits people follow automatically without questioning them.

Now every time I step into the shower, I think about how one simple question completely changed the way I looked at something I once considered obvious. Sometimes the most ordinary daily routines hide the biggest surprises.
