Photographs of young women from the 1970s can immediately transport you back to an era when fashion and beauty looked noticeably different. Long natural hair, simple crop tops, high-waisted jeans, minimal accessories, and relaxed outfits were everywhere. There was an effortless quality to the decade’s everyday style that remains instantly recognizable more than half a century later.
One of the biggest things people notice is how little emphasis there appears to be on highly polished beauty. Heavy contouring, elaborate cosmetic procedures, digital filters, and carefully staged social-media photographs weren’t part of everyday life. Makeup certainly existed and was popular, but casual photographs often captured people looking much closer to how they appeared during an ordinary day.
