Thanks to This Trick Your House Will Never Stop Smelling Fresh

Keeping a home smelling fresh doesn’t always require expensive sprays or plug-in fragrances. A simple homemade reed diffuser can be prepared with just two main ingredients: a neutral carrier oil and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Combined in a small glass bottle, they slowly release fragrance without needing electricity.

Start by filling a small glass container about halfway with a light carrier oil such as sweet almond or fractionated coconut oil. Add approximately 15 to 25 drops of essential oil, depending on how strong you want the fragrance. Lavender creates a relaxing scent, while lemon, orange, peppermint, or eucalyptus can give a room a fresher aroma.

Mix the two ingredients gently and place several reed diffuser sticks into the bottle. The reeds absorb the scented mixture and gradually carry it upward, allowing the fragrance to evaporate into the surrounding air. After several hours, turning the reeds over can help strengthen the scent.

Place the diffuser somewhere with gentle air circulation, such as an entryway, bathroom, or living room. Flip the reeds occasionally whenever the fragrance becomes weaker, and replace the mixture when it eventually runs low. Keep the container somewhere stable where children or pets cannot knock it over or ingest the liquid.

The trick is surprisingly simple: carrier oil plus essential oil. With a small bottle and diffuser reeds, those two ingredients can provide a steady fragrance for weeks, making it an inexpensive alternative to constantly spraying commercial air fresheners.
