Repeatedly urinating while standing in running water can train your body to associate the sound of water with the need to pee. Over time, this reflex can make it harder to control your bladder in normal situations, like hearing a faucet, shower, or even rain. There’s also the issue of bathroom hygiene. While urine is often described as “mostly sterile,” that’s not entirely true. It can still carry bacteria, especially if someone has a urinary infection.
