Grandma and Grandpa were visiting their son and daughter-in-law overnight. It had been a pleasant evening filled with conversation and laughter, and before going to bed Grandpa wandered into the bathroom. While looking around the medicine cabinet, he suddenly noticed a bottle of V pills sitting on the shelf. Curious, he picked it up and later asked his son if it would be alright for him to try one.
His son looked a little surprised and quickly replied, “Dad, I don’t think you should take one of those. They’re very strong… and they’re very expensive.” Grandpa raised an eyebrow and asked how expensive they really were. The son answered honestly, explaining that each pill cost about ten dollars.
Grandpa thought about it for a moment and then calmly said he still wanted to try one anyway. He assured his son not to worry about the cost and promised that before he and Grandma left in the morning, he would leave the money under the pillow in the guest room to cover the price of the pill.
The next morning, after Grandma and Grandpa had already headed home, the son went into the guest room and checked under the pillow. To his surprise, instead of ten dollars he found $110 neatly placed there. Completely confused, he immediately picked up the phone and called his father.
“Dad,” he said, “I told you the pill cost ten dollars, not one hundred and ten.” Grandpa laughed on the other end of the phone and replied, “I know… the extra hundred is from Grandma.”
