A young man was doing his weekly grocery shopping when he began to notice something strange. A little old lady seemed to be following him from aisle to aisle. Every time he stopped to look at a product, she stopped. When he moved on, she followed. What made it unsettling wasn\u2019t just that she was there \u2014 it was the way she kept staring at him, her eyes soft, almost emotional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At first, he told himself it was just a coincidence. Grocery stores are busy places. But after the third aisle, it became impossible to ignore. He sped up a little. So did she. He slowed down. She slowed down. Finally, at the checkout line, she stepped ahead of him, turned around, and spoke in a gentle, apologetic voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hope I haven\u2019t made you feel uncomfortable,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s just that you look so much like my late son.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The little old lady\u2019s face lit up. She waved enthusiastically, smiling through tears, clearly touched by the small kindness. Other shoppers looked on, moved by the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Feeling good about himself, the young man continued toward the door \u2014 until the cashier called out, \u201cSir! You forgot something!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He turned back. \u201cWhat did I forget?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour bill,\u201d the cashier said calmly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
