The man lay propped up in a hospital bed, wrapped in so many bandages he looked more like a mummy than a patient. Tubes hummed softly beside him, and a tray of untouched food sat near his elbow. When his friend walked in, he stopped short and stared. \u201cWhat on earth happened to you?\u201d he asked, eyes wide. \u201cLast time I saw you, you were perfectly fine.\u201d The bandaged man sighed heavily, shifting just enough to wince. \u201cIt all started at the amusement park,\u201d he said. \u201cOne stupid moment of curiosity that turned into this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
