Three police officers stood nervously in line at the Pearly Gates, their uniforms pressed, their faces serious. Saint Peter sat nearby with a long scroll, reading names and occasionally glancing up. One by one, souls were welcomed inside, but when the officers reached the front, Saint Peter raised a hand and stopped them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He looked at the first officer and asked calmly, \u201cWhat did you do with your life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer straightened his back proudly. \u201cI was a police officer,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter nodded. \u201cAnd what kind of police officer were you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI patrolled the streets, protected people, and tried to keep the peace,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter smiled, opened the gate slightly, and said, \u201cWelcome. You may enter.\u201d The officer walked in, relieved and proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter then turned to the second officer and asked the same question. \u201cWhat did you do with your life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was also a police officer,\u201d the second man answered confidently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd what kind of police officer were you?\u201d Saint Peter asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI worked traffic,\u201d the man said. \u201cI wrote tickets, enforced the law, and made sure roads were safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter paused, nodded slowly, and opened the gate again. \u201cWelcome. You may enter as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, Saint Peter faced the third officer. This one looked uneasy, shifting his weight from foot to foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd you,\u201d Saint Peter said gently. \u201cWhat did you do with your life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was a police officer,\u201d the man replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter leaned closer. \u201cWhat kind of police officer?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man sighed. \u201cI worked internal affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter\u2019s expression changed instantly. He rolled up the scroll, pointed behind him, and said, \u201cYou see that gate over there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer\u2019s eyes lit up. \u201cYes!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
